The Board of Trustees will meet to vote on a proposed $388 million budget today.

The Board of Trustees Finance, Facilities and Operations Committee approved the budget in a Aug. 27 committee meeting, according to a Sept. 1 Northern Star article. The proposed budget is an 8.6 percent reduction from Fiscal Year 2015’s budget of $424.5 million. A state budget for Illinois has not been established, but Gov. Bruce Rauner proposed a $29.3 million cut to NIU’s state allocated budget earlier this year.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the Board of Trustees Room, Altgeld Hall, Room 315. Contact Ellen Andersen, director of Special Events, at 815-753-1999 if accommodations are needed for participation in the meeting.
