Men’s soccer heads to Milwaukee for match-up with Marquette

By Christopher Loggins

After a weekend where it went 2-0, men’s soccer (3-1-0, 0-0-0 MAC) will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. for a matchup against Marquette at 7 p.m. Friday.

The game will mark the Huskies’ first away game of the season. They’ve gone 3-0 at home and 0-1 at neutral sites. Marquette comes in winning three of its last four games and is undefeated at home thus far.

Sophomore Luke Read won a trio of awards this week for the Huskies after a weekend in which he hit two game-winning goals in games against Florida Atlantic and Stetson. Read was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, named co-Mid-American Conference Player of the Week and was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week.

Marquette is coming off a 2014 season where it went 8-6-4, losing in the Big East Men’s Soccer Championship to Georgetown. The team has finished over .500 in each of its last four seasons, and could be on pace to achieve the feat again.

The last time the Huskies and Eagles went head-to-head was in 2014, when Marquette won by a final of 2-0. The game will mark the start of a four game trip away from home, as the Huskies will make stops in Omaha, Neb., Charleston, Ill. and Bowling Green, Ohio.
