By Christopher Loggins

Volleyball (3-3, 0-0 MAC) will travel to Wichita, Kan. this weekend to participate in the Wichita State Invitational.

The team will face off against Wichita State, Texas State and 21-ranked Kentucky.

The team has lost two straight games coming into the weekend, both against ranked teams.

Wichita State

The Huskies will face off against Wichita State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on ESPN 3.

The Shockers come in at 3-3, losing their last two games to New Mexico State and Texas A&M.

The team went 20-10 last year, losing just five conference games throughout the season.

The Shockers beat NIU the last time they played, winning a five-set match in 2012.

Texas State

Texas State heads in at 3-5 and are on a two-game losing streak. The team took losses to Indiana and Oregon last weekend after a three-game winning streak in the Delta Zeta Classic.

The Bobcats went 22-13 in 2014, posting a 14-5 record at home on their way to a second straight winning season.

This will be the first meeting of all time between Texas State and the Huskies. The game will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Kentucky

Kentucky comes into the game ranked 21st in the country and currently has a 4-3 record.

The two teams haven’t faced off since 1999 when the Wildcats beat the Huskies 3-1.

Kentucky has won three of the four all-time games they’ve played against NIU. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Following the weekend, Huskies will go on to play in eight consecutive home games as part of the Huskie Invitational. All three of the Huskies’ wins this season have come at home. With wins this weekend, the Huskies can move to 6-3 on the year heading onto their home stretch.C
