The Black Student Union will hold its annual Chill Fest 5-10 p.m. April 25 at the Center for Black Studies.

Chill Fest is open to the public and will have music, free food and games. There will be a barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. Adviser Derrick Smith said the event is meant to introduce students to organizations and resources around campus to help with NIU’s student retention. Campus organizations will have tables set up around the event.

“For the last almost 30 years, they were doing it the second week of school, and it was basically trying to get the freshmen students acquainted with the different organizations on campus, resources they can use to help them out and get to know the upperclassmen,” Smith said.
