NIU baseball: Huskies limp into midweek matchup against Illinois State

By Northern Star staff

Baseball hits the road Tuesday after going 2-5 during its first homestand of the season.

The Huskies (13-17) will take on the Illinois State Redbirds (13-15) at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Duffy Bass Field in Normal.

The Huskies enter the matchup on a five-game losing streak, their longest such streak this season. They have gone nearly .500 (11-12) on the road, but they’re just 5-9 in true road games.

NIU dropped its first series since March 15 when it was swept by Kent State over the weekend in DeKalb. Kent State outscored NIU 33-11 over the three-game series.

The Huskies beat the Redbirds the last time the two teams met. NIU took a 7-6 victory on April 8 in DeKalb on a walk-off sacrifice fly.
