NIU men’s tennis: Huskies sweep Detroit Titans over weekend

Men’s tennis defeated the Detroit Titans on Thursday in Detroit.

The Huskies (16-5, 2-1 MAC) swept the Titans (5-12), 4-0, to improve to 6-5 in true road games this season. The Huskies have now won back-to-back road games for the first time since early March.

“We played good,” said head coach Patrick Fisher. “We won convincingly and the guys played great. I couldn’t be more excited going into our match against Toledo.”

Doubles

No. 1: Freshmen Kevin Daun and Georg Lundkvist won (7-5)

No. 2: Senior Frederic Cadieux and freshman Louis-Philippe Hamel unfinished (5-5)

No. 3: Junior Simon Formont and sophomore Carlos Manzanas won (6-4)

Singles

No. 1: Formont won (6-2, 6-2)

No. 2: Cadieux unfinished (7-6, 1-0)

No. 3: Hamel unfinished (7-6)

No. 4: Freshman Tom Hjertonsson unfinished (6-3, 2-4)

No. 5: Manzanas won (6-4, 6-2)

No. 6: Lundkvist won (7-5, 6-2)
