Campus Activities Board to audition students for stand-up show

The Campus Activities Board will hold performer auditions for Laugh Out Loud with the NIU Crowd, a stand-up comedy night, 6-9 p.m. March 4 in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

The comedy night is 7-9 p.m. March 17 in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium. This event is free.

Sam Zangara, CAB coordinator for comedy, said he’s excited to hold a stand-up comedy event.

“We have open mic nights, we have battle of the bands, but we don’t really have anything for stand-up comedians,” Zangara said. “So, it’s something different, worth a try.”

Zangara said he’s looking for about 10 acts, depending on how many people audition. Zangara said groups and individuals can audition doing any kind of comedy act they want, including songs, magic or ventriloquism.

“What we’re judging on is how appropriate they are, how funny they are then the third thing is how original they are,” Zangara said.

Zangara said the event isn’t a competition but will have an emcee to announce performers.
