Wrestling ran the table in its final three matches Saturday to down the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Cougars.

The Huskies (8-8) claimed a 19-15 win over the in-state rival Cougars (3-13) in the State Capital Clash in Springfield. The win avenges a 20-18 loss Nov. 9 to the Cougars at the Illini Quad.

NIU got wins from Andrew Morse (157), Shaun’Qae McMurtry (165) and Trace Engelkes (174). Morse won by major decision, 12-3, and McMurtry and Engelkes won by decision, 7-4.

NIU’s 10-0 run on points to close the match came after the Cougars had won three matches in a row at the 133-, 141- and 149-pound weight classes.

The Huskies and Cougars battled back and forth to open the match with NIU picking up wins at 197 and 125 and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville taking 184 and 285.
