By Northern Star staff

The DeKalb Fire Department will use a $2,500 grant to buy 10 sets of body armor for first responders.

The armor will be worn by responders “for an integrated rapid response between FIRE/EMS and law enforcement to readily care for patients,” according to a Fire Department news release.

The grant was given to the Fire Department by the 3M Foundation, whose mission is to advance every company, enhance every home and improve every life, according to its website.
