Pass: Rauner moves quickly with 1st changes

With Illinois being in such a bad financial state, it’s a good thing Gov. Bruce Rauner started making changes immediately after his inauguration Monday.

One of Rauner’s plans is to have every state agency freeze non-essential spending, which should help with Illinois’s money situation. He stated he is also cutting his salary to $1 and declining benefits. I don’t know what is in the cards for Illinois, but at least the new governor is making an effort.

Fail: Another country singer at the Convo

I’m a huge country fan myself, but the Convocation Center having another country star perform feels repetitive.

Brad Paisley, Parmalee and the Swon Brothers are scheduled to play at the Convocation Center on Feb. 9.

This will be the third country concert at the Convo since October 2013.

The only other major, non-country performances were 2-Chainz in April and Second City in October.

It would be nice to see some variety, and that would also help convince students to stay at school on the weekends.
