DeKalb police have seized about 6 kilograms of what they suspect to be heroin worth about $1.4 million.

Police started investigating Henry A. Zamora, 35, of DeKalb, after they said cops witnessed him playing a role in an apparent drug transaction Friday in the 2300 block of Sycamore Road. A search of Zamora’s car during a traffic stop yielded about four 1-kilogram packages of suspected heroin, police said in a Monday news release.

Police searched Zamora’s home in the 1400 block of Cambria Drive and found two 1-kilogram packages of suspected heroin, a semi-automatic handgun and money, according to the release. Harry J. Madrid, 24, of Anaheim, Calif., was at the home and police determined he was involved in the drug activity, according to the release.

Zamora has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance, possession of open certificate of title, possession of secret compartment and possession of firearm without a Firearm Owner’s Identification card. He also received a traffic citation.

Madrid has been charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of controlled substance.

An investigation is ongoing.
