SA senator charged with drinking while underage

Student Association Senator Yandi Farinango, 19, of Chicago, was charged with liquor consumption as a minor Friday.

Farinango, elected in last week’s Senate election with 204 votes, serves the fourth district, which according to the SA Bylaws covers the area between the northern city limits to Lucinda Avenue and the Kishwaukee River to Annie Glidden Road. This district does not include University Plaza.

Farinango was present at the SA Senate meeting Sunday.

The senator could not be reached for comment. Joe Palmer, SA Public Affairs director, said the Student Association was not aware of the charge and declined to comment.

The Senate is the legislative body of the SA.
