Two days off: NIU, satellite campuses closed Monday and Tuesday

By Northern Star Staff

Classes will be canceled and the university closed Monday and Tuesday due to extreme cold and snow.

Temperatures during the day Monday will have a low of -7 degrees, with wind chill values going as low as -33, according to the National Weather Service.

Residence hall dining areas and the Holmes Student Center will remain open, but Health Services and the Recreation Center will be closed both days. Huskie Bus routes 7 and 11 will run Monday.

Some essential employees — like campus police and snow removal staff — will continue working during the two days.

Classes will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
