Thanksgiving will bring cold weather

The week may be cold, but Thanksgiving shouldn’t be ruined by bad weather.

The week will see highs in the 30’s, and NIU meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste doesn’t expect rain or snow.

“Although it will be cold, travelling conditions should be good throughout the entire Midwest,” Sebenste said.

The sky is expected to stay clear of snow.

“We’re not forecasting any rain or any snow throughout the entire next week; however, it will be cold with highs only in the 30’s and lows in the teens to the lower 20’s,” Sebenste said. “It’s going to be a dull week, which is good. Thanksgiving should go off without a hitch in terms of bad weather.”

With a cold week ahead, students are planning to dress warmer.

“I’m going to wear long johns and a lot of layers,” said freshman undecided major Stephen Windle. “I’m going to stay inside as much as I can and take the bus to classes.”

Others are stocking up on seasonal outerwear and gear as they expect a long winter.

“It’s an early winter this time, and I’ve been doing all the winter shopping,” said graduate engineering student Sunil Sirimalla.
