‘Two of a Crime’ an adorable love album

Indie rock duo Perma’s new album “Two of a Crime” is adorable and made my heart melt.

Say Anything frontman Max Bemis and wife Sherri Dupree, lead singer of Eisley, join forces in Perma. Their 11-song “Two of a Crime” leaves listeners smiling from the first to last track. Even though the album won’t be released in stores until Tuesday, it is available online.

The song “Two of a Crime” documents the fictional story of how the duo were criminals, found each other and fell hopelessly in love. I love how the song begins with someone snapping. It’s so cute and sweet that it makes me want to become a criminal with someone.

“Regret what we did, we’ll outrun the pigs, I’ve got a stolen hearse, we’ll have room for kids,” Bemis and Dupree sing, taking turns. “I’d build a tiny gun for little Lucy Jean,

she’ll be the cutest little thug they’ve ever seen.”

I love how they include their daughter in the song.

“Wishbone” starts with Dupree’s high voice and a simple guitar riff in the background. Bemis joins in by singing deeper and slower. I love how their voices are so drastically different, yet they go together so well. I also enjoy how “Wishbone,” like most of Perma’s songs, is about the duo’s love and how they will always be there for each other. If one falls, the other will be there to help out.

“Let’s Start a Band” is a pop song, which is totally different for the duo.

The whole record is mostly just the two of them singing, with drums on a few of the songs.

I like how it sounds like the couple was just hanging out and decided to pick up a guitar and sing for everyone to hear it. When the album does include drums or synth in the background, it’s a nice change of pace.

The one thing I want in “Two of a Crime” is to hear a track where the musicians sing by themselves. It would provide a cool change

of pace yet still feature the album’s love theme.
