“Michael J. Fox Show’ leaves you shaking with laughter

Michael J. Fox puts a comedic spin on living with Parkinson’s in “The Michael J. Fox Show.”

Fox stars in a show that echoes his life. His character, Mike Henry, leaves a job he loves as a TV news anchor after his Parkinson’s becomes too much of a hassle. During the show, we see a clip from Mike’s last broadcast where he is doing his signoff and he scoots his chair off screen.

My favorite part of the episode is when Mike’s wife makes him stay home and wait for the dishwasher installers. When the installers arrive, Mike somehow ends up being the one hooking up the dishwasher because he forgets what his wife asked. He calls his wife but accidently calls 911 instead of 971.

He tells the 911 dispatcher he is fine and he accidently called the wrong number because of the drugs, referring to his Parkinson’s drugs. Almost an hour later the police come to check out the scene.

Another great scene is when Mike’s daughter works on a school project and decides to showcase what a horrible disease Parkinson’s is.

She films her dad struggling to open a jar, and other things. While he does mess up a few things, she manages to catch him doing something correctly. She asks him to redo it “with a little more shaking.” I like how the show puts a funny spin on Fox’s lifestyle.

At the end of the show, Mike finally gets his wish and gets the whole family to sit down for breakfast. Mike is scooping up eggs to give to his wife and while managing not to spill anything she says, “Enough of the personal victory. I’m starving!”

I have wanted Michael J. Fox to return to TV since the second he left “Spin City” due to his Parkinson’s diagnosis. I got a few teases from the star with guest spots in “The Good Wife” and “Rescue Me.” Every time he was on a show, the characters joke about his disease, making a sad situation humorous.

Overall I am in love with Fox’s sense of humor and the way his family interacts with each other. Check out this hilarious show.
