Texas Roadhouse setting up shop on DeKalb Avenue

Get your cowboy hats ready: Texas Roadhouse is coming to Sycamore.

The restaurant, part of a chain that specializes in barbecue, will set up shop at 1950 DeKalb Ave. in 2014, according to a Monday news release.

Sycamore city manager Brian Gregory said he did not know when construction would begin, but said there was a “lot of interest and excitement.”

“It’s a big part of a sustainable community,” Gregory said. “Different types of businesses and amenities that come to town…allow people those options right here rather than having to drive to another community.”

John Pappas, who owns the property, said a Johnny’s Charhouse was at the location until about a month and a half ago. He said Texas Roadhouse had been looking into the area for five or six years.

“We think the city is a great fit for Texas roadhouse and we look forward to serving the community,” said Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster in a news release.
