Trends to watch from Coachella

By Kayla Cameron

Coachella is held in Indio, Cali., and it’s one of the biggest art and music festivals in the U.S.

This festival hosts thousands of fans in a giant field-like venue with rides and stages set up everywhere. The people who attend Coachella love to jam out to various musical guests. They also partake in the festivals signature and unique style statements. Fashion at Coachella is huge, and a big part of attending the festival is wearing the right outfit to embody your inner hippie. Here’s a list of a few signature items that Coachella fans were sporting this year. Maybe, they could help inspire you to get your outfit ready for Coachella next year.

Floral headpieces

Women all over Coachella were spotted sporting flower-laden headbands–more like flower crowns for a hippy princess. You can find a fake flower lei at any party store and then wrap it around your head and your good to go. Though, there’s always the second option of getting real flowers but that’s a lot more expensive. If you’re not feeling the fairy princess look, you can always go with the big floppy beach hat–another favorite accessory at Coachella.

Crop tops and high-waisted pants

Some of the fashion at Coachella consists of women wearing as little clothing as possible and showing a lot of skin. Women even sport their bikinis to the festival. If you want to be a bit classier, the second best option is a crop top and high waisted pants. This look keeps you covered while showing off a little bit of your midriff, which is perfect for a Coachella outfit. A look like this can be found at Forever 21.

Bracelets, bracelets and more bracelets

Accessories at Coachella consist of as many bracelets as you can fit on your wrists. It doesn’t matter what these bracelets say or how they look. The only thing that matters is that you have enough of them to make a fashion statement. Bracelets are easy to find, just walk into any Claire’s or Charming Charlie’s and pick out your favorite selection. For a cheaper alternative, you could always make your own or buy the bracelets in packs. Slip on your new accessories and your ready for Coachella.

No shoes, no problem.

Lastly, this fashion statement isn’t really a statement at all and it also means not having to worry about what shoes would go well with your outfit. The shoeless trend at Coachella really embraces hippie-chic. If you decide to go shoeless though, always remember to be careful of any sharp objects on the ground, and it wouldn’t hurt to pack a Band-Aid or two just to be on the safe side.
