Black and white is a must for any wardrobe

Let’s start this spring semester on a classy note: wearing black and white.

According to blogger Jena Gambaccini, this simple yet classic color combination is one of the biggest trends seen on the runways for spring 2013 that you can start wearing now.

No matter how many trends come and go each season, black and white has always been there as the safety blanket of fashion. However, this season’s look doesn’t have to be boring with the use of bold shapes and unique fits and fabrics. It’s easy to wear and both men and women can wear it.

Men

Let’s face it, most men have a pair of black dress pants, a white button-up shirt, a jacket and a tie to go with suits for upcoming job interviews and other special occasions. Wearing black and white doesn’t have to always be formal, though. Men can wear a black or white T-shirt, button-up or sweater and pair it off with dark denims. To add some color, men could wear a fun colored pair of shoes or a watch that stands out in all the right ways.

Women

Most women’s interview attire consists of black pants, pencil skirts, blazers and white or black button-up shirts. It’s easy to incorporate formal black and white attire into everyday wear. Women can wear a dressy or causal white or black top with a blazer and dark or white skinny jeans. Some black and white outfits have special detailing such as sheer and lace on dresses and tops. To make the outfit pop, add a brightly-colored accessory or a bright red lipstick.

Even though it’s still winter, it’s always fun to incorporate spring trends as a welcoming approach to the upcoming season. Black and white outfits were meant to be worn throughout the year with a twist. Keep this look in mind throughout your interviews, dinners, parties and classes.
