Rihanna teams up with Chris Brown on new album

Rihanna has a new album coming out next week, Unapologetic. It features artists like Eminem, Chris Brown, Future and—wait, what? Chris Brown? The same Chris Brown who beat up Rihanna the night before the Grammys in 2009?

Rihanna is getting over Brown’s intense strife from three years ago. But is she moving forward or being ignorant?

Rihanna told Oprah Winfrey in August, “…I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who’s going to help him?” If Rihanna is implying that she feels obliged to help Brown, she has a rough future ahead.

It’s difficult to make accusations about this controversial collaboration. Perhaps Brown is now a different man, a more respectable adult. This situation is similar to why you don’t necessarily tell your parents about a verbal fight with your significant other. Although you two might forgive each other in the future, your parents will never forget.

Either way, Rihanna is ready to work with Brown again. However, does she feel ready to give the relationship another shot, too? The collaborated track, Nobodies Business, contains the lyrics “Said it, it ain’t nobody’s business/Your love is perfection, please point me in the right direction/I’mma give you all my affection.”

The album and song title show that Rihanna has no regrets despite others’ judgments. Although she is looking forward, Unapologetic obviously addresses issues in her past.
