Art Walk shows off local artists

The Sycamore Art Attack School of Art hosted the fifth annual Art Walk on Saturday.

The event allowed fans of any medium to tour studios and meet artists. Susan Edwards, Art Attack executive director, was one of the event organizers. Art Attack spanned across twenty locations in Sycamore and DeKalb.

“Over 70 artists will have work on display during the Art Walk,” Edwards said.

Dave Zoberis , a Maple Park-based artist whose work has received honorable mentions from galleries across the Midwest, displayed his work at Shawn’s Coffee, 204 Somonauk St. in Sycamore.

“The Art Walk is yet another way for artists to gain exposure and to be part of the local community of artists,” Zoberis said.

One venue new to the Art Walk in 2012 was Proton Tattoo Studio. Visitors could see firsthand the intricacies of tattoo artwork. Chris May, Proton Tattoo Studio owner, was happy to be part an event that supported art of all forms.

“In regards to what the artists are using as a base and medium, the work is different, but there are many different kinds of artists who do many different styles of tattoos,” May said.
