Sept. 25, 2012

At 1:49 p.m. on Sept. 10, an officer was sent to Cole Hall in regard to a report of criminal defacement of property. The officer arrived on the scene and started an investigation. On Tuesday, this case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 14, an officer was sent to the Emergency Management and Planning building for a report of theft. The other officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Tuesday, this case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 2:29 p.m. on Sept. 14, an officer was sent to the lobby of the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Tuesday, this case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 11:47 a.m. on Sept. 16, an officer was sent to Lot P in regard to criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Tuesday, this case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 1:17 p.m. on Sept. 19, an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Tuesday, this case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 12:02 a.m., a person approached an officer at Stevenson South in regard to a report of theft. The officer initiated an investigation and spoke with several people. Kumail A. Jafri, 20, of Highland Park, was arrested for theft and for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Jafri was sent to the NIU Police Department for arrest processing and then sent to the DeKalb County jail.

At 1:00 p.m., officers encountered a person with a valid arrest warrant at 843 Crane Drive. The warrant was for failure to appear on an obstructing identification charge. Jalissa L. Curry, 22, was arrested and sent to the DeKalb County jail.

At 5:17 p.m., an officer was sent to Grant North in regard to a report of unlawful credit card use. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.

At 8:21 p.m., officers were sent to Neptune East in regard to a report of cannabis. Upon arrival, officers met with two people at the room in question. The meeting resulted in the people being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of cannabis.
