Sept. 19, 2012

At 11:24 p.m. on Sept. 5, an officer was sent to the north side of the Founders Memorial Library in regard to a report of graffiti spray painted on the sidewalk. The officer arrived on the scene and started an investigation. On Wednesday, this case was unfounded.

At 4:39 a.m., an officer was alerted to a person sleeping in a vehicle at Lot O. Upon arrival, the officer met with the person. The officer discovered they were under the influence of alcohol and under 21. The person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

At 1:51 p.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of theft. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.

At 1:17 p.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.

At 2:19 p.m., an officer was sent to the New Residence Hall Community Center in regard to a report of theft. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 4:56 p.m., an officer was sent to Lot X in regard to a stolen vehicle report. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.

Sept. 20, 2012

At 2:19 p.m. on Wednesday, an officer was sent to the New Residence Hall Community Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Thursday, the complainant’s property was recovered.

At 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday, an officer was sent to Lot X in regard to a stolen vehicle report. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Thursday, the complainant recovered their vehicle.

At 12:09 a.m., an officer on patrol at the 500 block of Annie Glidden Road saw a person who appeared to be intoxicated and under 21. The officer met with the person and the meeting resulted in the person being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

At 3:11 p.m., an officer responded to Stevenson North in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 5:14 p.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department lobby in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.

At 9:17 p.m., officers were sent to Lincoln Hall in regard to a report of cannabis. Officers met with people in the room in question. The meeting resulted in four people being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
