The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday

At 6:17 a.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol ran a registration check on a vehicle in the 800 block of Regent Drive. The officer learned registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license, and the officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Jalissa L. Curry, 22, of DeKalb, said she was the owner’s sister, had no identification and was taking her sister’s son to a babysitter. The driver said her name was Jessica Curry. When the officer asked the driver her date of birth and address, Curry messed up several times. The officer told Curry he thought Curry was lying. After thinking about if for a minute, Curry admitted her name was Jalissa. Curry said she lied because she works in Aurora and didn’t want to get arrested. Curry was charged with driving with a suspended license and obstructing identification. The officer allowed Curry to drop off her son at a babysitter’s before being placed under arrest. Curry was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.
