DeKalb County Treasurer Mark Todd plans to seek retention for his position. Todd was appointed to the position Feb. 12 to fill Christine Johnson’s term. Johnson was appointed to the State Senate.

Todd said he wants to bring efficiency to the Treasurer’s office. His methods included improving the efficiency of mailing delinquent tax notices; cutting staff overtime hours and outsourcing the preparation of property tax bills; saving tax payers money. Todd also said it is his responsibility to cut costs without the need for using more money.

The primary election will be held on March 20, 2012 and the general election on Nov. 6, 2012. The elected winner will fill the remainder of Christine Johnson’s, which is due to expire at the end of 2014.
