DAYGLOW set to paint the Convo red

By Alex Fiore

Paint it, black. Or red. Or yellow or purple or any color you like next semester.

The NIU Convocation Center, 1525 Lincoln Highway, announced via press release Wednesday it will host DAYGLOW, the self-proclaimed “World’s Largest Paint Party,” on Feb. 25.

DAYGLOW is a rave/concert/dance party hybrid, complete with DJs, a light show and acrobatic dancers covered in 3D body paint.

DAYGLOW was founded in 2006 in Florida and has been touring nationally and, recently, internationally.

The event is popular on college campuses, featuring DJs like David Solano, Laidback Luke and Static Revenger.

DAYGLOW has grown into something more intricate than a standard dance party. The show now features fire dancers, stilt walkers, contortionists and aerial acts, and the climax of the show comes when cannons blast off, spraying the crowd with an enormous cloud of paint.

Tickets go on sale Nov. 30 at noon and can be purchased at the Convocation Center box office or Ticketmaster outlets.

All tickets are general admission and start at $27. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available for $57 and include a DAYGLOW towel, t-shirt, CD, sunglasses and paint, according to the press release.
