THE COMMUNITY DANCE SCHOOL AT NIU is beginning its fall session this month. Creative Movement, ballet, pointe, tap, Irish step, hip hop, and ballroom, Latin and Swing are offered weekly in Anderson and Gabel Halls at 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday. THE NIU ULTIMATE FRISBEE TEAM will have open tryouts for the men’s and women’s teams. We welcome anyone that has the enthusiasm to work hard, to learn, and to have fun. WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER is teaming up with the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The HopeLine turns used wireless phones in to support for domestic violence survivors. The Women’s Resource Center is collecting no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any wireless service provider. Stop by any of the drop-box locations to donate between Oct. 3 and 28. The drop boxes are located at the Women’s Resource Center, the Holmes Student Center (near the Huskie Bus turnaround), the Residential Administration Office in Neptune East, the Community Advisor Resource Center in Lincoln Hall, and the Stevenson Area Office. A MID-SEMESTER CHECK workshop will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Illinois Room of the Holmes Student Center. The workshop is offered to help students who may be struggling with the semester in terms of study habits, time management, social life or financial issues and is free to all students. LUPE FIASCO AND TINIE TEMPAH will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center. THE FOLKLORE ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE will hold its weekly meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. in DuSable Room 300. ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS will host “A Day Without Shoes!” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the MLK Commons The event will include several activities to raise awareness and donations, along with clothing and shoes to distribute to children in Africa.
