Campus Activities Board makes this week at NIU funny and foamy

DeKALB | Foam and stand-up comedy.

NIU’s Campus Activities Board will close out the semester with two events this week. First up is the stand-up comedian Lil Duval who will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

“He’s a rather big comedian,” said CAB president Byron Neal. “He‘s been on BET Comic View. He’s toured a lot — he’s in Georgia right now. We wanted to give the students something to laugh about before exam weekend.”

Lil Duval’s appearance at NIU comes nearly a year after CAB booked fellow stand-up Kevin Hart. For Neal, deciding which one is funnier is not an easy task.

“Kevin Hart is hilarious, but Lil Duval is funny as well,” he said.

The event is hosted by C-Dawg and will feature a performance by Co-Coa Brown.

On Friday, CAB will host a Foam Party from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday at the Chick Evans Field House. DJ’s will spin and foam will drop.

After the event sold out last year, Neal promises that this year’s will be bigger and better. More lights will be added and precautions will be taken to make sure that everything gets extra foamy.

“DJs, music, foam…sounds like a good time,” Neal said.

Tickets for the Lil Duval show go on sale 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Blackhawk Annex. Tickets are $3 for students with a valid NIU OneCard and $5 for guests.

Tickets for the Foam Party go on sale at 5 p.m. Friday at the Blackhawk Annex. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for guests.
