Sweet Dream Desserts hosts Tasting for Charity

By Meaghen Harms

Sweet Dream Desserts, 1969B DeKalb Ave., will host its fourth annual Tasting for Charity from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Memorial Hall, 244 Waterman St.

All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of DeKalb County.

“I hope to be able to donate $1,500 to $2,000 to Relay for Life, but if it is more that would be great,” said Deanna Watkins, owner of Sweet Dream Desserts.

Watkins said the Tasting for Charity is set up like a bridal exposition, but all event proceeds are donated to a different charity each year. Vendors such as a wedding coordinator, photographer, flower consultant and musician will be present.

“For everyone else not looking to get married soon, it is a nice evening with amazing food that is inexpensive,” said Joni Watson, owner of Wedding Flowers by Joni.

Each vendor will have a booth. There will also be tasting stations throughout the room that have various items from the Sweet Dream Desserts menu.

“It is more personal than a giant expo,” Watson said.

The Tasting for Charity was started four years ago by Watkins.

“We originally started it to show that we can do outside catering,” Watkins said.
