Obama recommends NIU alumni for department of justice position

An NIU alumni has been nominated by President Barack Obama to become the next director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for the Department of Justice.

Andrew Traver graduated from NIU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice.

Traver is currently the special agent in charge of the Chicago Field division for the ATFE and has held similar positions for the Bureau since 1987.

Traver must go through Senate confirmation process before he assumes the job.
