Campus crime blotter for 11/22/10

Aug. 17

  • At 12:28 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Health Services for a report of a fire alarm that was pulled. An investigation determined that this may not have been deliberate. With no further information, this case is administratively closed.

Aug. 18

  • At 9:31 a.m., an officer was approached at the Holmes Student Center in regards to a residential burglary that took place at a residence hall. A student reported a cell phone and a sum of cash from his wallet were stolen. The items were taken while he was taking a shower and left his wallet in his room. Due to lack of cooperation by the complainant and no further leads, this case is administratively closed.

Aug. 21

  • At 6:30 a.m., a Building Services employee reported damage to two cigarette urns, a door, and a window on the west side of Gabel Hall just east of Lot 38. Due to lack of evidence and leads, this case is administratively closed.

Aug. 28

  • At 7:15 a.m., an officer noticed criminal damage to a squad car. At this time, no witnesses or other leads have been identified. This case is closed pending the discovery of new information.

Sept. 3

  • At 11:26 a.m., a theft was reported. A person stated that on Aug. 25 or Aug. 26, she noticed $15 in cash missing from her wallet. She did not know whether the money was misplaced or stolen. She further advised that on Sept. 2, at 10:30 a.m., she noticed that she was also missing $80 in cash from her wallet. This case is cleared for refusal to cooperate.

Sept. 28

  • At 10:35 p.m., a student in class at DuSable Hall had her jacket stolen from the back of her chair. This case is closed pending the discovery of new information.

Nov. 4

  • At 3:27 a.m., an officer investigated criminal defacement of property at Grant North. The officer observed and documented graffiti on a resident’s door. With no more leads or further information, this case is administratively closed.

Wednesday

  • At 3:38 a.m., officers noticed a subject enter the Stevenson South lobby and recognized him to be in violation of a banning order. After confirming this fact, a search of the subject’s backpack revealed a jar of cannabis, tested and confirmed. Robert Price, 21, of Bellwood, Ill. was then arrested for criminal trespass to land and possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.
  • At 9:45 a.m., a subject in the Stevenson food court allegedly made threatening gestures to a worker and was reported for disorderly conduct. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 2:37 p.m., a subject left his wallet in the Lincoln Hall lobby. Returning to retrieve the wallet, the subject discovered that a sum of currency was missing. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 2:39 p.m., an officer took a theft report on a missing iPod. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to Neptune North to investigate the odor of cannabis from a particular room. After the officers questioned the occupants, one revealed a pipe and grinding device. He was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug equipment. Jonathan Kite, 21, of Villa Park, Ill. revealed a quantity of cannabis in a plastic bag. He was arrested for possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.
