Felix Hernandez not deserving of award

I’m sorry, I thought this was America. Where the only thing that matters is winning.

Apparently not, because Felix Hernandez just might win the AL Cy Young Award.

Now, I realize that the ESPN hype machine has probably already gotten to you, and you are most likely already arguing with me based on their opinions.

But hear me out, King Felix was 13-12 going into the last week of the season. And amazing ERA aside, any pitcher hovering around .500 this time of year shouldn’t even have their name in the same zip code as Cy Young chatter.

Believe me, I can appreciate the fact that his Mariners have been unfathomably bad this year. So atrocious that for a good portion of the season, they had Milton Bradley hitting cleanup. But come on, give the award to someone who actually stacked up some wins for their team. C.C. Sabathia, David Price, take your pick. Anybody but Mr. .500.
