Relax, play in Lincoln Hall’s new game room

DeKALB | Lincoln Hall has a new game room to be opened this semester.

“The room offers a fun place to relax with a pool table, foosball and a new TV,” said David McCown, the Residence Hall Association (RHA) vice president of administration.

The room will be made available during a grand opening event after a few more things have been installed, McCown said.

In addition to the Lincoln game room, the RHA also runs the New Orleans room in Stevenson.

The New Orleans room offers students “a fun place to hang out in during open hours and a large space for organizations to rent out,” McCown said.

It has a pool table, a ping pong table, a large TV and two foosball tables all available for free use by students living in the residence halls, he said.

This year, RHA is looking to convert the New Orleans room from a simple recreational game room into a more multi-purpose room by updating the lighting, adding wireless Internet and a projector.

The New Orleans Room will open within the next couple of weeks and will have weekly open hours from Thursday through Sunday, McCown said. The room will be available for student organizations to rent out on the other days as well.

“I have never heard of these rooms before,” said freshman undecided major Christopher Monaco. “But I could definitely see myself going to use them if I had the chance.”

“It would be fun to get a group together and go play pool or watch one of the big TVs,” he said.
