Good turnout expected at Lollapalooza this year

By HEATHER SKRIP

Every August, several bands play in Grant Park at Lollapalooza. Most of these bands are of the alternative and indie genres.

Although the tickets for this three-day festival tend to cost a lot of money, the bands that usually play are well worth it, considering the amount of musical talent witnessed. There are certain bands that are return performers, but as the Chicago music scene continues to change, new bands emerge.

Who To See: Andrew Bird, The Beastie Boys, The Decemberists, The Gaslight Anthem, Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers, Manchester Orchestra, Rise Against, TV On The Radio and Vampire Weekend.

Who To Avoid: Asher Roth, Coheed and Cambria, Kings Of Leon and Snoop Dogg.

Who’s Missing: Dashboard Confessional, Mars Volta, My Morning Jacket, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth and The Ting Tings.

There are over 80 bands on this year’s lineup. Some may be your favorite bands, while others are sure to become your favorites.
