Track of the Day: Welcome to the ‘Real World’ Blago

By MICHAEL VAN DER HARST

Matchbox Twenty – “Real World”

To conclude our “Bye Bye Blago” week, the song “Real World” by Matchbox Twenty sends a message to former Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

“I wish the real world would just stop hassling me,” is a line from the song that I’m sure Blago played over and over again during his recent Senate trial.

The next line, “I wonder what it’s like to be the head honcho,” you know very well, Mr. Blago. You were the head honcho of the great state of Illinois. Unfortunately for you, the couch at home is a much better place for you than Springfield — or should I say Chicago most of the time and Springfield whenever the jet was refueled with taxpayers’ money?

So sit back and relax with Matchbox Twenty’s “Real World.” You don’t want anyone else to “Push” you around, do you?
