ESPN finds Johnson

By MATT KERLIN

LeShon Johnson is a household name in DeKalb, but soon it will be a name heard all over the country.

After a trip to Tallahassee to see Florida State QB, Charlie Ward, Chris Fowler of ESPN met with Johnson for an interview yesterday, which will appear as a feature on the ‘Cowboy’ on ESPN’s College Gameday this Saturday.

Fowler and a producer did some of the taping at the Huskies practice, on campus, and in the Huskie Hall of Fame, where Johnson is sure to have a spot soon after he graduates.

“When you are a running back, you have to perform like LeShon does to get this kind of media attention,” head coach Charlie Sadler said.

Fowler also talked to Sadler as well as offensive coordinator, Joe Dickinson, players Tim O’Brien and Gerald Nickelberry about Johnson’s performances.

NIU media services also gave ESPN some footage of LeShon that should be used.

Along with ESPN, Johnson was contacted by Gene Wojohowski of the Los Angeles Times for an interview on Monday.
