Top ten shows from childhood

By KYLE SPENCER

During our childhood, there were many shows to love, but looking back you just can’t remember why. At the time they seemed brilliant but now look cheap and thoughtless.

Even though we will regrettably admit to watching these shows from the ‘90s, luckily for us, there are still the few shows that can hold their own even in today’s society.

Shows to be ashamed of:

5) “Power Rangers”

Children of the ‘90s loved the monster-fighting rangers, but that action and cheap voice-over work is too painful to be viewed in modern day.

4) “Roseanne”

While many never took a liking to her loud and obnoxious voice, she still had a following. Now, however, you would be hard pressed to find someone that doesn’t realize she is in fact loud and obnoxious.

3) “Baywatch”

While this show was, at one time, groundbreaking for many, today it just looks like a cheap soap opera on the beach.

2) “Full House”

The episodic life lessons, intolerable Uncle Joey and John Stamos’ perfectly poofed doo make this series great for a good laugh today.

1) “Saved By the Bell Franchise”

This includes all of them: the original, “The College Years” and “The New Class.” Each episode is cringe-worthy, like the time Jessie was taking energy pills to study for a test and still dance with Kelly and Lisa. Ouch. That is some of the most laughable television ever produced.

Shows that still hold their own:

5) “Spin City”

Although the show suffered a little when Michael J. Fox retired and Charlie Sheen took over, the show still delivers relevant, topical humor.

4) “Home Improvement”

Of course this show still features its share of cheesy moments, but the duo of Tim and Al still make the show watchable.

3) “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”

Will Smith’s over-the-top brand of humor has still proved entertaining throughout the years along with the notorious theme song.

2) “Friends”

America’s favorite roommates kept us laughing for over a decade and have struck gold in syndication. With the exception of the mopey Ross in the later seasons, every character brings a different brand of humor to the table.

1) “Seinfeld”

Larry David and Larry Charles stand as some of the best comedy writers in television history, making one of the greatest – if not the greatest – sitcoms ever. The jokes will always be relevant and the plot lines will always be some of the most creative we will ever see. For a show about nothing, it has become a pop-culture legend.
