Movie is indeed a ‘disaster’

‘DISASTER MOVIE’ – 0/10

Starring: Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo, Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra

Plot: The movie follows the main character, Will (Lanter), who dreams the world is going to end Aug. 29, 2008 if The Crystal Skull is not returned to its altar. Then during his “Super Duper Sweet 16” party, a series of unfortunate natural disasters occur, leading the characters on an adventure to the Museum of Natural History.

The Good: If you are a fan of vulgar humor and excessive use of bodily functions, then you may find yourself chuckling.

The Bad: The title says it all, this movie was indeed a complete disaster.

The spoof movie genre found its niche by the standards of “stupid is funny.” The problem with this film is that it IS stupid, but NOT funny. The film produced only a handful of jokes that could have provoked a laugh, but instead, the jokes were carried out 10 minutes longer than needed.

For instance, the character of “Juney,”(Crista Flanagan), mocking the film “Juno,” played her part so over-the-top that she quickly became more annoying than Ellen Paige. Also in the film, the recurring “Michael Jackson loves children” joke is used yet again as it has been in the previous spoof films. These are just a few of the jokes that the film could have done without.

The Low-Down: If you believe yourself to be someone with a developed sense of humor (or any sense of humor for that matter), then this film is not for you. If I hadn’t had to stay to complete this review, I would have walked out within the first five minutes after having to endure a relentless joke about Amy Winehouse’s ability to burp for over a minute. Save your money and steer clear of this disaster.
