Double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple…ring a bell?

By BRIDGET ORKFRITZ

I was having a conversation with someone the other day about old school children shows and which ones were the best. Recent children’s television has changed drastically over the years and is just too, for lack of a better word, different. I ended up YouTube-ing some of the shows I used to watch as a kid and it definitely brought back memories. In no particular order, this is what I’ve concluded to be the Top 5:

1) Sesame Street – This was such a classic show. It was simplistic, but entertaining and educational.

2) Blues Clues – Yes, I know Blues Clues wasn’t produced until we were a little older (I was about 10 at the time), but the colorfulness of the show brought it to life along with the interactive feel that included the viewer.

3) Double Dare – Another classic. Too bad host Marc Sommers is now banished to the Food Network.

4) Doug – I don’t know what it was about this show that I liked, but it was funny, and I always found myself watching it.

5) Legends Of The Hidden Temple – This was an exciting game show that I always wanted to be on as a kid. It seemed challenging and definitely put me on the edge of my seat. And what about those freaky tribesman who would jump out and grab the contestant?
