Rant: Prison-yard football, anyone?

By ANDREW HANSEN

So you’re the new guy in Cell Block D in the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan. and to pass the time you and the other inmates get a little football game going.

The teams are picked and after a couple of plays you realize you’re on the bad team. The other team’s quarterback is unstoppable. He can run. He can throw. Michael Vick-esque.

That’s because it is Michael Vick.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank told the New York Daily News that Vick is playing prison-yard football to stay in shape during his 23-month stay.

Blank has kept in contact with Vick through letters and in addition to playing football, is making 12 cents an hour washing dishes. Not exactly the 130 million the Falcons gave him, but work is work.

Fortunately for the other inmates, Vick even played quarterback for both teams in a game.

Somewhere Maurice Clarett dreams of transferring to Leavenworth.
