Carrie Underwood will perform at the Convo this April

By MICHAEL VAN DER HARST

Country music singer Carrie Underwood will soon be carving her name into the Convocation Center seats.

John Gordon, Convocation Center director, confirmed inquires made by the Northern Star Wednesday that Carrie Underwood will be appearing at the Convo on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m.

“We’ve worked hard on this [event] for several months,” Gordon said. “We’re excited to have her here.”

Tickets will be $59 and will be available on Ticketmaster and the Convocation Center box office beginning Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m.

A lottery system will be used at the Convo box office to determine who will receive tickets in person, Gordon said.

It is strongly recommended to purchase tickets online, he said.

Underwood, winner of season four of American Idol, has sold more than 6 million copies of her debut CD “Some Hearts,” which was released in 2005. She has won two Grammy awards.

NIU’s stop on her “Carnival Ride” tour is her only Chicago-area concert currently scheduled.

The concert will be officially announced this Friday. An opening act will be announced at a later date.
