Halloween-themed bike ride happens Friday

DeKalb Critical Mass will be hitting the streets Friday in costumes for a Halloween-themed bicycle ride.

The Committee of Preservation of Wildlife will also be participating. The committee was set up to help organize, participate and publicize with the DeKalb Critical Mass.

“Our group has a special interest for critical mass dealing with the environmental aspect,” said Renee Kopulos, treasurer of the Committee of the Preservation of Wildlife.

By riding a bike there’s less pollution, which helps with global environment, and it’s just an overall good idea to promote bike awareness, Kopulos said.

Participant Jay Barre, a chemistry graduate student and employee of North Central Cyclery, said bike riding is a good way to help with the environment, as it is safe, fun, and practical.

“The bike shop last month for September, we locked all our keys up and rode to work and commuted everywhere we needed to go,” Barre said.
