Swimming, lip-synching and camaraderie among Greeks were highlights of Delta Gamma’s 26th annual Anchor Splash.

Swimming events took place at 1 p.m. Saturday in Anderson Hall Pool. Phi Kappa Psi and Alpha Delta Pi took first place in the swimming events, while Pi Kappa Phi and Sigma Lambda Sigma placed first in water ballet.

“We’re happy to have earned second place, but are looking forward to take first next year,” said Carrie Wostratzky, president of Alpha Delta Pi.

At 6 p.m. Sunday, the lip-sync contest and Mr. and Mrs. Anchor Splash skits were held in the Duke Ellington Ballroom of the Holmes Student Center.

Rose Mulvey, an Alpha Omicron Pi, and Jayce Best, a Sigma Alpha Mu, were crowned Mr. and Mrs. Anchor Splash 2007. AOPi and the Sammies also took first place in the lip syncing category.

“Our sorority has won Mrs. Anchor Splash for the third year in a row. We’re excited to keep this title for another year,” said Melissa Lacoco, Alpha Omicron Pi president.

The overall winners for Anchor Splash were Sigma Lambda Sigma and Pi Kappa Phi. Phi Kappa Psi and Alpha Delta Pi took second, while Alpha Omicron Pi and Sigma Alpha Mu took third.

“It feels great to have such an influence over the Greek community,” said Alexandra Sims, a Sigma Lambda Sigma.

Money raised through Anchor Splash will benefit Delta Gamma’s charity, Service for Sight, a foundation that aids the blind. Delta Gamma raised nearly $3,500.
