DeKALB | The Honors Student Association is hosting an ice cream social concert today, benefiting Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

The event takes place in the Douglas C/D Cafeteria from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Bands scheduled to perform include Kablamo and 4th Gear.

The event, Ice Cream Cures Cancer, is open to anybody for a $3 donation at the door, which includes all performances and a complimentary bowl of ice cream. More ice cream can be purchased for an additional $1.

The annual event raised more than $350 last year. HSA is a social and service organization affiliated with NIU’s Honors Program.

Andrea Meade, junior accounting major and HSA membership chair, said she encourages people to come to the event and check out HSA.

“HSA is open to anybody, and there is no GPA requirement like some students believe,” said Meade. “The organization gets you very involved in honors activities.”

The Honors Student Association meets twice a month, with the next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 4.
