John Mayer to perform at Convo in beginning of spring

By Derek Wright

Whether your body is a wonderland or not, John Mayer will be at the Convocation Center to serenade us Feb. 20.

The singer/guitarist will hit DeKalb for the first time as the first major concert of the spring semester.

Tickets go on sale for John Mayer Club members Nov. 3 as a special pre-sale for his fanclub. The remaining tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 11. All tickets are $46 and available at Ticketmaster outlets and the Convo’s box office.

“As far as college acts come, John Mayer is about as big as it gets,” said Kevin Selover, assistant director of marketing for the Convo. “This is an act we’ve been trying to get since the building opened.

Mayer’s tour is in support of his 2006 release, “Continuum,” an album that saw the 29-year-old performer delve deeper into his blues roots. As part of the 14-date tour, Mayer will make one other Illinois stop in Bloomington at Illinois State University.

No supporting acts have been finalized or announced.
