Illinois State Police issued 94 citations during a roadside safety check last Thursday at the 100 block of North Annie Glidden Road.

Troopers from District 2 State police in Elgin worked together over a five-hour period to check standard car and driver requirements.

“Mainly we were checking for current registration, current insurance, a valid driver’s license and seat-belts,” said DeKalb Police Sgt. Jim McDougall.

The state police made 84 arrests, four of which were drug related. Police made 11 alcohol-related arrests, including two DUIs.

Five people were arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license and four for not having a valid driver’s license. Police arrested 27 people for seat-belt violations and 33 for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

“The operation went pretty good for both sides as far as drivers having what they needed and things going smoothly for us,” McDougall said.
