Three candidates remaining

The search for NIU’s new provost has been narrowed to three candidates.

Current Provost Ivan Legg is set to retire June 30 after five years of service at NIU.

“The selection of NIU’s next provost will be critically important in our ongoing efforts to become the nation’s premier regional public university,” said President John Peters in an e-mail Friday afternoon to NIU faculty and staff. “I am delighted with the quality of individuals the committee has recommended to me, and I invite all of you to learn more about them.”

All open forums will take place in Altgeld Hall, Room 315.

Who is the provost?

The provost oversees the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and participates in the executive management of all aspects of the university’s operations. Essentially, the provost is second in charge of all aspects of the university.
