Even though she didn’t steal your boyfriend, Ashlee Simpson will steal the Convocation Center March 29.

Simpson will be the second of three confirmed acts to play the Convo this semester, along with O.A.R., who play April 26.

“This is the first time we’ve had a female pop performer like this come to the Convo,” said Kevin Selover, marketing manager for the Convo. “It’s something new for us at this building. Between us and the Campus Activities Board deciding on this concert, I think it will do really well.”

Simpson released two albums, 2004’s “Autobiography” and 2005’s “I Am Me,” as well as her own reality show, “The Ashlee Simpson Show.”

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the box office for NIU students with a valid OneCard. The price is $29, limit two. Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for $34.

“She’s only playing a handful of shows on this tour in the states [because] she’s overseas for most of it,” Selover said. “We were really lucky to get her for one of those shows.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. An opening act has yet to be announced.

Tickets are available at the Convocation Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (312) 559-1212, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
