Sophomore methodology major and PK player Stephen Spodarek, took over the game by scoring 15 points and almost out scoring the LS players combined. The losing team’s eight turnovers were the reason PK closed out the victory.

“I think we played pretty good,” Spodarek said. “We could not score early because they were playing good defense but were fortune for the win.”

Players from Law School showed disappointment after the game.

“We handled the zone defense pretty good,” junior law major and LS player Matthew Lloyd said. “We’re a three point shooting team and we just couldn’t make any shots.”

The women conference saw G.S.N. defeat Da Squad 33-22.

This game was played with a lot of intensity throughout. G.S.N started the game dominating DS in all aspects in the first half. The score was 18-8. In the second half, DS made a run to cut the lead to two. G.S.N showed poise by taking the lead back. Junior nursing major Keohsa Jackson and G.S.N player took over the game scoring nine points, six rebounds and two assists. Despite a good performance from junior sociology major and DS player Miante Kinghouse scoring 10 points. G.S.N just was too tough in the end.

“I am happy and glad my team won,” Jackson said. “We played good, hard team basketball throughout the game.” Da Squad’s body language showed how mad they felt about the lose. “The first half we [were] just cold,” Kinghouse said. “We came back in the second half but we just couldn’t pull it out. I hate losing but I guess everybody has to lose once in their lifetime.”

The Highly Competitive division was the last game to be played. The Highly Competitive’s Da Squad outlasted Showtime, 36-34.

This game showcased hard-nosed defense with every possession being important. The refs had to break up many altercations with players and fans during the game. The teams talked trash throughout the game. SH player and senior economics major Kiel Lumpkin had 10 points and six rebounds. Despite his efforts, his team just could not slow DS. Senior physical education major and DS player Elliott Fields was one of the reasons why they won. He played a well rounded game by scoring 10 points and helping his team come up with a close victory.

“Its a good victory for us,” Field said. “Both teams played hard, we just came out with the victory. We strive off are defense. Its no about scoring all the time. Along as we stop the other team from scoring that all that matters.”

“We played together,” Lumpkin said. “But at the end we could not finish. We played a good game.”
