DeKalb police received an eye-witness report of a stabbing at 12:26 a.m. Sunday at 808 Ridge Road.

The witness said a large group of men surrounded a car and pulled another male out of it, said DeKalb Police Lt. Jim Kayes.

The witness told police the group pulled the man from his car, stabbed him, then fled, Kayes said.

The witness reported the victim got back into his car and drove off, Kayes said. The police have identified the victim but the investigation is still underway.

DeKalb police dealt with several reports of fights last weekend.

A fight broke out at 1100 Rushmoore Drive about two hours after the Ridge Road incident.

By the time police arrived, the crowd had dispersed but one witness remained.

“The complainant accused somebody of pulling a machete on him,” Kayes said, and the witness pointed out the suspect’s vehicle nearby.

DeKalb police then stopped the suspect’s vehicle and searched it, Kayes said.

“We found a drug pipe and pills that tested positive for ecstasy,” Kayes said.

DeKalb police arrested Michael Tompkins, 20, of Wheeling, for possession of a controlled substance.

In a third fight, DeKalb police responded to a complaint of disorderly subjects at 9:22 p.m., Sunday, at 356 Augusta Ave.

Somebody entered a room in the building and accosted a person inside, Kayes said. The confrontation ended with the enteree threatening to get some friends and come back, which he did.

The police came back at 10:04 p.m. to check on the place, only to find out people had shown up and left, Kayes said.
